Top 10 Reasons To do your Yoga TTC in Thailand:

I started yoga in 2007 and have traveled all over the world studying and giving aerial yoga trainings in Asia, as well as Vinyasa yoga and meditation retreats in Thailand, India, Cambodia, USA, Australia, New Zealand, India and Bali. Each country has their pros and cons for yoga teacher trainings. After careful consideration and comparing Thailand Yoga Teacher Trainings with Bali Aerial Yoga TTCs and a variety of other Yoga courses and trainings in India and Europe... I'd like to share with you a list of reasons that may help you if you are considering Thailand.

1. Because it’s Thailand!

The best place in the world for a yoga teacher training course is Thailand. If you have been to Thailand then you already know what an amazing country it is. If you haven’t been there yet then surely you have friends who have visited or you have seen it in movies like “The Hangover” and “The Beach”. Each month millions of tourists come to enjoy this glorious paradise. And in the last 5 years it has become host to numerous 200 hour yoga TTCs and some of the best Yoga Retreats in Asia.

2. Master yoga instructors

If you are a skilled and successful yoga teacher and can give yoga teacher training anywhere, why not choose Thailand? That’s exactly what is happening now. Yoga teacher trainings in Bali are famous for having excellent instructors. And in fact I did my first aerial yoga teacher training course in Bali. But many yoga teachers, including my own aerial yoga instructor, wish to relocate to Thailand since it is more relaxed with pristine nature. Bali has some beautiful nature too, but unfortunately it has terrible traffic and pollution. Koh Phangan island on the other hand is just the opposite. In fact the island does not have a single traffic light, making for a serene and peaceful environment for yoga TTCs and yoga retreats in Asia.

3. Sacred Culture

Thailand has a rich and colourful history that dates back over a thousand years. It is a Buddhist country and in every city you will find glorious golden temples. Like India, Thai people are very spiritual, which makes for an inspiring environment to do a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. Bangkok is a famous must-see destination on your trip. But even on the remote island of Koh Phangan there are several temples and meditation centres to visit during your free time. More than a Yoga Certificate Course, a Thailand Yoga Teacher Training should be a spiritual transformation.

4. The price is right

Another great thing, it’s easy to find a cheap 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course in Thailand. It’s not as cheap as India for example, but the quality is far better. This is great for shopping, eating out and enjoying excursions. Compared to the US or Europe, Thailand is easily half the price. Yoga teacher training’s in Bali are quite popular, but the accommodation is generally a much higher price, especially for a beach front location. When doing a Thailand Yoga Retreat you can hang your aerial yoga swing or aerial yoga hammock from the balcony and fly over the sea.

5. Delicious Thai cuisine

Thailand has a great variety of tasty dishes. The food is also healthy, which is important for staying fit during a 200hr Yoga TTC. If you do an Aerial Yoga Teacher Training it is especially important to diet right. You don’t want to eat too much before class. Luckily Thailand's food is nutritious and filling so you won’t overeat. There is also an abundance of fresh tropical fruits and coconuts full of invigorating electrolytes, which are highly recommended for staying hydrated. And since Thailand Yoga Retreats and Yoga Teacher Training on Koh Phangan have become popular, many new vegetarian boutique restaurants and cafés have sprouted up everywhere.

6. Breathtaking Beaches

The best beaches in the world can be found in Thailand. Especially in south Thailand where ULU Yoga offers Aerial Yoga Teacher Training’s and 200hr Yoga TTCs on Koh Phangan. During your break time you can enjoy swimming in the crystal waters with colorful fish and coral. Snorkeling is also a great way to practice pranayama breathing, which you learn during your yoga training. Koh Phangan has very calm waters, which are perfect for SUP Yoga Training in Thailand. Becoming a certified SUP Yoga instructor is great way to get good yoga jobs in Asia.

7. Kingdom of Elephants

If you love elephants, then Koh Phangan is the perfect place for you. Elephant trekking is very popular and affordable. But make sure you are going to a legitimate sanctuary who treats their Elephants well. During your 200hr Yoga TTC you will learn the elephant God Ganesh is a sacred feature of the Hindu tradition in India. There is no better way to experience nature than riding four meters high on this beautiful creature. In Chiang Mai there are well known Elephant Sanctuaries where they are allowed to roam free. Many are rescued from tourist camps where they are worked too hard and treated poorly.

8. Mountains Galore

In addition to Thailand’s incredible Beaches there are also glorious green mountains to explore. During a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher training course you spend most of the time practicing yoga on the mat in the studio. So it’s a good idea to cross train and get a little cardio by hiking through the mountains. On Yoga Courses in Thailand you don’t have to walk far to reach a magnificent view point overlooking the sea. Just behind ULU Yoga on Koh Phangan there is a fantastic Belgium resort to sip coffee and watch the glorious sunset. And a two minute walk down the road there is a very famous spot overlooking Secret Beach where everyone stops to take photos of the beautiful sunset.

9. Almost 24/7 Great Weather

Thailand has great weather all year long. So you can do a Yoga Retreat in Thailand whenever you have free time. Even during rainy season you will find a wide variety of 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training on Koh Samui or Koh Phangan. In December for example, the north is dry and south is wet. But even then it only rains for one or two hours a day on average. Many days there is no rain and the skies are clear and blue. Still check if your yoga school has protection from rain, floods, heat, sun and bugs. ULU Yoga has a reflective solar roof, huge fans, mosquito lamps, tinted windows and is built on a hill with a fresh sea view. The beach is just a two minute walk and there is also a nice swimming pool to cool off in between classes.

10. Land of Smiles

Thailand is probably one of the happiest places in the world and you can see it clearly on the smiling faces of the friendly Thai people. Many Westerners do a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand to find peace and happiness. But for Thai people, happiness is second nature. They are just born into it. Thailand is a beautiful country full of rich culture, delicious food and numerous Yoga Certificate Courses and the Best Yoga Retreats in the world. You will love it here! I’m sure we will see you soon 🙂
