Aerial Practice

Each morning you will receive a 2 hour guided aerial yoga practice with a senior instructor. Classes are rooted in traditional hatha and vinyasa yoga with attention to correct technique, alignment, and mindfulness. Link movement and breathe to create graceful flows. Avoid complicated poses to reduce risk of inquiry. Follow carefully designed sequences developed over hundreds of Aerial Yoga Trainings.

Aerial Workshops

Each day there is a special workshop to give you a dynamic variety of skills and experience:

  • Restorative Aerial Yoga uses techniques from yin yoga, restorative yoga and physical therapy. Hold poses for several minutes to stretch the deeper connective fascia tissue. Through mindful guidance you can release trauma and stress, and activate the parasympathetic nervous system to promote self healing.

  • Aerial Acro Yoga uses swings to suspend flyers to easily achieve traditional acro yoga poses. This is a fun playful class to help unite the group, teach you about bone stacking, balance and alignment. After mastering the basics and building trust, you will be amazed by how easy it is to achieve regular acro yoga.

  • Beach Aerial Yoga. One day you will do aerial yoga on the beach and take amazing pictures flying over the water. Learn to tie together bamboo to make your own tripod, allowing you to practice aerial anywhere outdoors. Also receive guidance for giving safe demonstrations and performance.

  • Partner Aerial Yoga uses one swing between two people. Here you can explore creative new ways to balance and stretch. With the help of our partners we can go so much deeper, combining poses in ways you never imagined. It is incredible fun and makes for great group bonding and amazing pictures.

  • Acrobatic Aerial Yoga is the most advanced workshop. Learn to flip and fly, connecting a long series of poses to create dynamic sequences combining everything you have learned. How far we go depends on the overall level of the group. However, even beginners can succeed in the basic techniques.
  • Asana Lab

Create a strong foundation! Examine aerial yoga poses one by one in detail following ULU Yoga’s training manual with over 70 poses. Learn correct alignment, technique, common mistakes, plus beginner and advanced variations. Also practice teaching with your peers to develop confidence. Asana Lab is the core of the teachings and where you will receive the most in depth instructions and interaction with the instructor.

    Teaching Practice

Most people just take this course for fun or to deepen their self practice, but teaching is a great way to learn and connect with others. Each day you will practice teaching. You will receive lectures on teaching methodology to learn teaching skills, sequencing and lesson planning. You will design and teach a complete 60min class and receive detailed feedback to become a confident instructor.

    Anatomy

Back pain is one of the biggest problems around the world, attributed largely to poor posture and sitting too much. But how does this work and how can we fix it? In Anatomy you will learn about the construction of the spine, the intervertebral discs, spinal nerves, compression of bones, and it’s relation to pain. Plus the online course has 10 hours of video lectures, which go deeper into general anatomy and biomechanics.

    Online Studies

As a special bonus you will receive the complete online aerial yoga teacher training. This allows you extra time to prepare before the course, and review the content after the training, to ensure you have all the tools you need to develop and grow into a confident aerial yoga instructor. It is recommended that you watch a few videos before starting the course. If you miss any classes onsite you can do extra online work to make up those hours.

    ULU AirSwing

On this course you will train with the ULU Yoga AirSwing, which has cushion padding to provide superior comfort and support than regular hammocks. The AirSwing allows you to perform with greater precision, safety and control. It can enhance all styles of aerial ranging from therapeutic to acrobatic. You can do all the same poses in this course with regular aerial hammocks, but the AirSwing is just easier and more comfortable.

    Beach and Fun

Uluwatu is home to some of the best surfing and most beautiful beaches in the world. In your break time you can easily visit Bingin Beach and Dreamland Beach, just 7min drive. You can also visit Uluwatu temple, which has a spectacular view and is home to hundreds of monkeys. Nearby are many boutique cafes and restaurants with delicious healthy cuisine. Every night you can find live music, dancing and special events. Rejuvenate with amazing Balinese massage spas, saunas and gyms.

    It Was Really Amazing

"My name is Alyna. I do yoga for around like six, maybe five years. It was my first Aerial yoga training and it really was amazing. Before I tried swing yoga like maybe a couple of times. And what I thought about it, that it's kind of too hard maybe for beginners, maybe it wasn't maybe enough like warm up. And I wanted actually to learn how to teach aerial swing yoga in a yoga way, actually. Not just exercises, not just fun poses for pictures or something. I just wanted to understand the whole structure of this to make person feel good, to make it authentic and to bring yoga energy in this. And in this course, actually I got everything what I wanted. I didn't expect anything from the course because I didn't know what is this? How is this? And just I just went for experience and I'm actually super happy because I was surrounded with amazing people from all other worlds. So different personalities, everyone so nice, so into this lifestyle. Even some people who first time here, even we actually were able to teach in the end of what, four days. And it really was a beautiful experience. I enjoyed it a lot. Kiki and Eddie are amazing teachers. They have very nice energy and at the same time they are very instructive, disciplined and strict about what we are doing. But at the same time, they give you time to improvise, to play and to make it just fun. So I really enjoyed it. Read More >>

    A Very Liberating Experience

I've just finished the 50 hours aerial Yoga Teacher Training course, and it was simply a fantastic experience. The teaching is first class. The structure of the course is wonderful. You get immersed in it from the first day. It's very exhilarating. But it's also a revelation, because as a guy practicing yoga, there are certain things that I find challenging. I find that while my muscles give me strength, they often get in the way, and they actually stop me reaching that level of flexibility that I would like to achieve. They kind of hold me back, and I find myself fighting with my own body. Sometimes what the swing does is it enables you to kind of release into the asanas to find that deeper stretch, or rather, not to find it, but to let it find you. The swing actually kind of helps you sort of just lean into it, and the stretch finds you rather than you constantly trying to force it on the mat. So, for me, it was a very liberating experience practicing aerial yoga. I've come away feeling confident that I could at least go and practice on my own and enjoy that practice. And once I'd got really familiar with everything, I would love to start teaching this elsewhere, because I think it's a great opportunity. I think this is a wonderful extension of classical yoga and a great way to have fun, because the other thing I feel about aerial yoga that's very special is that it just brings that element of playfulness. As soon as you get near the swing, as soon as you sit on it, as soon as you start to move with it, you just feel that sense of playfulness coming back and that sense of enjoyment. The whole thing becomes way less serious. I mean, we have laughed so much this week. There's been such a lot of joy in the class, such a lot of camaraderie. It's been a great experience all around. So I just like to say a big thank you to Eddie, of course, but also to KK, who taught many of our classes, and the analytics, which were just fantastic. So I've come away feeling really confident, and I'm definitely going to make yoga part of my practice and hopefully soon part of my teaching. Read More >>

I had the best experience with Ulu! The setting was on an island in Thailand- the resort was right next to the beach, and the weather was beautiful!!! There was a breakfast buffet everyday, which was amazing. And the beach (Haad Yao) was so picturesque. There were several instructors, and they were all amazing and knowledgeable! I loved how they put an emphasis on safety and how the poses are for each person's body. The course was a lot more intense than I had anticipated- but you learn a lot, and you get a lot of teaching practice. I took the 200hr multi-style course, so I had the pleasure of experiencing SUP yoga (on a paddle-board), acroyoga, aerial yoga, yin, hatha, vinyasa, and even a taste of ashtanga.

    It Was Perfectly Organized

I thoroughly loved the Aerial Teacher Training at ULU Yoga. It was perfectly organized; Eddie really did his very best for it to be a flowing and smooth experience from start to end. Such a charming shala, kind staff, and lovely food. The days were very well structured, with a perfect combination of theory, practice, and rest time. Minty was the best teacher ever, very knowledgeable and warm. Heloise was great, Lloyd explained Anatomy amazingly well. Eddie's morning aerial flow was top-notch. We were a group of 12 people, half of us being yoga teachers, with some people who were new to aerial yoga. I felt that the course was adaptable to each level. We all felt very grateful for the experience and instantly became close to each other. The training really helped us facilitate and learn how to conduct a beautiful class, whether it's restricted more of a power sequence. There's so many things you can do in a swing. And so I hope that you will join some day for a class or come to a training, and then you can teach this wonderful, beautiful yoga. It was so amazing to be part of this training. Coming here to Uluwatu is such a beautiful experience. Read More >>
