“THE BEST AERIAL YOGA SWING I HAVE EVER USED”
ULU Yoga makes their own cushioned aerial swings, which are stronger, safer, more comfortable and supportive than regular hammocks, but you can do many of the same poses like anti-gravity yoga.
Medium to large sized silk hammocks often leave students tangled up in the excess material. Silk hammock are also known to be slippery and cut into the skin, causing pain and bruising. The fabric is thin and can tear easily. It stretches, which creates instability and danger of hitting ones head if set too low.
ULU Yoga started in December, 2014 by Edward J Pawlak. Edward began yoga in 2007 and has a background in technical production and set building for Broadway music theater. Edward combined his passions to create the ULU Yoga Swing in March, 2016. Now the swings are available for purchase online in the United States and international and can be found in studios all around the world.
Edward taught aerial yoga with silks, hammocks and belts, but always found students suffered from pain, and difficulty with balance, height and width adjustment. Edward designed foam pillows to cushion the hips in forward bends, but these were cumbersome to position and transition between poses. Edward experimented with various fabrics, dimensions and supports to create something new and easier to use.
Finally, Edward discovered a local source for waterproof non-slip non-stretch Gortex style fabric and began sewing portioned yoga mats inside of the fabric. It was an instant success. Suddenly everyone could do every pose with far more comfort and ease. Die hard Anti-Gravity Yoga aerialist and even Fly High Yoga founder himself admitted it was a superior design.
