Discover your true self and deeper nature of reality through the sacred wisdom of ancient yogic philosophy. Learn to apply these lessons in the real world to cultivate a holistic lifestyle. Topics include the vedas, yoga sutras, Bhagavad Gita, 8 limbs, nature of self/soul, nadis, chakras, consciousness, karma, gunas, ego, tantra and more.
Gain a deeper understanding of bodily systems, structures and principles underlying each movement and of yoga itself. See how specific muscles respond to the movements of the joints with biomechanics; how the spine, breathing and body positions are all fundamentally linked.
Dive deeper into the form and function of asanas from various categories. Learn about their common foundation and how to build upon it in order to achieve correct alignment, advanced variations and modifications for different levels, styles, and needs.
Learn teaching skills, cueing, sequencing, corrections and adjustments. Practice teaching everyday and design original classes. Receive detailed feedback and become a confident instructor.
Each morning you will receive a 2 hour guided practice of either traditional hatha yoga, dynamic vinyasa flow or ashtanga vinyasa yoga, all of which include pranayama breathwork and meditation. Classes are led by a senior 500HR-RYT instructor, who offers personalized feedback, hands on adjustments, and modifications for beginner and advanced learners.
The 200HR YTT includes more traditional studio classes to establish a strong foundation. Some students may have very little to no yoga experience. Therefore, the first few days we move slowly, testing your levels of strength, flexibility and balance. The 300HR and Intermediate 200HR YTT are more interactive classes, which include short breaks to work on peak poses, advanced transitions and modifications with props in greater depth.
For both 200HR and 300HR YTT, advanced practitioners must be kind and patient towards lower level students. Compassion, in fact, is the most important trait of a yoga instructor that ULU Yoga cherishes. This starts with treating your peers, and instructors, with respect. A common mistake is that students think that training harder and pushing their body to the limit will advance their practice faster. More likely it will lead to burn out and injury, resulting in missed classes and negative attitudes toward the end of the training.
The 200HR YTT covers the classic foundational poses and popular sequences such as sun salutations from hatha, vinyasa and ashtanga yoga. Learn the correct form and function, technique and alignment, purpose and benefits of each pose. Learn muscle engagement, how to and link breath with flow, how to avoid injuries, plus modifications for beginner and advanced levels. Students are encouraged to be patient and practice safely, but also to work hard with dedication as this practice can lead to a life changing transformation.
The 300HR and Intermediate 200HR YTT provides more detailed info about the energetics and anatomical biomechanics underlying each asana, thus connecting the physical and spiritual dimensions of yoga on deeper levels. Naturally, an advanced training will include many advanced poses and the steps to achieve them safely over time. But also how to simplify poses and guide students with special needs. This enables you to serve a greater variety of students with a higher degree of skill, offering them more customized adjustments and modifications.
One thing lacking in most Yoga Teacher Trainings is adequate teaching practice. People spend a month studying yoga and can’t even teach at the end of it!
At ULU Yoga you will practice teaching everyday in pairs and in small groups, plus teach a complete 75min class each week, followed by detailed feedback from your peers and instructor. Each week you will have lectures and workshops on teaching methodology, class design, and lesson planning. ULU Yoga is very proud of having an outstanding success rate and producing quality instructors who get jobs soon after completing their training with us.
The 200HR YTT focuses on teaching standard hatha or vinyasa classes, which include pranayama, meditation, guided instruction, hands on adjustments and use of props. You can also focus on yin, ashtanga or even aerial if you already have some additional experience with these styles. Students are often nervous, but soon after teaching their first class they experience a huge boost in confidence, which grows exponentially week by week. You just do your best and enjoy the transformation into a professional yoga instructor.
The 300HR YTT encourages students to offer more specialized classes, such as arm balances, inversions, prenatal, yoga for seniors, children, injured, office workers, and other styles or themes to best suit your personal needs and the needs of yoga current or future clients. This is your chance to role play and gain more nuanced expertise to give your career an added edge. However you are welcome to teach standard hatha and vinyasa classes as well. Students are also encouraged to film themselves teaching and review it later with peers. This helps to show what you need to work on and what you should celebrate as your strengths.
Each evening you will have a unique workshop to try new styles and experiences. This helps you to discover what you really love while gaining new skills and deepening your practice. Both the 200HR and 300HR YTT include 1x week acro yoga, aerial yoga, yin yoga and restorative yoga, plus 1x SUP yoga and beach yoga.
Acro yoga is a super fun class that helps raise the energy and unite the group. You gain a deeper awareness of muscle engagement, alignment and bone stacking as you balance your partner in the air. Acro includes fun games full of laughter and challenging poses that push you beyond your comfort zone, to build new confidence and skill.
Aerial yoga is ULU Yoga’s specialty. You will practice with their cushioned AirSwing, which is more comfortable and easy to use than regular aerial hammocks. Aerial helps offer restorative spinal healing and pain relief, it helps beginners achieve advanced poses, and enables experienced practitioners reach new levels they never dreamed of.
Yin yoga and restorative yoga trains you to hold passive poses for longer times while supporting the body with various props. This allows you to go deeper into the connective fascia tissues to release tension and stress. Enjoy deep relaxation after a long day of training and tap into the body’s natural power of healing to recover from trauma and injuries.
SUP yoga (stand up paddle board) offers a new sense of balance as you float above the sea enjoying the gorgeous coastline. SUP yoga is an exhilarating experience that you will never forget, full of laughter, splashing around and communing with nature.
Beach yoga is a chance to connect with the divine, give thanks for life, and take amazing pictures 😉 Uluwatu and Koh Phangan have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. On a clear day you can see distant islands, inspiring limestone cliffs and clear blue turquoise waters.
The 300HR, 200HR Intermediate, and sometimes the 200HR, include additional workshops for hands on adjustments, creative sequencing, advanced transitions, inversions, working with injuries, yoga massage, ayurveda, traditional tantra yoga, chakra awakening, yoga nidra, kundalini, Osho meditation, wellness related student presentations and more.
After many years of running YTT’s we find that each group is different. Sometimes a 200HR has many advanced students who want more challenging workshops. Sometimes a 300HR has low level students who need more time to revisit the basic asanas. Therefore, workshops may change month by month depending on the needs, interests and level of students, plus available time and availability of various instructors.
Understand your body and the bodies of your students in a much deeper way. Learn how the bodily systems, structures and movements are all fundamentally linked. Receive instruction for cueing to improve your alignment and technique, help prevent injuries, plus alleviate pain, strain and tensions in the body.
The 200HR provides an intro to anatomy, which covers basic anatomical terms, functions of the muscio-skeletal system, properties and characteristics of the body. Learn about the bones, muscles, joints, connective tissue, fascia, facial dumping, planes of motion, compression and tension, cell structure, and biotensegrity.
The 300HR YTT includes advanced functional yoga anatomy, including hands-on demonstrations and physical practices to put this knowledge in action with asanas. You will learn in depth shoulder mobility, hip mobility, the spine & lower back. The joints, ankles, knees, wrists & elbows. Foot and bow, the nervous system, the nature of fascia, the functional anatomy of a handstand and other practices.
*Anatomy is a very broad subject covering the entire human body. These lessons contain challenging technical vocabulary from medical, biological and sport sciences. This requires additional reading and multiple reviews to understand and internalize. Therefore, it is recommended that you complete all of the anatomy classes online, and save the onsite time for deeper discussion and analysis. The onsite training has but limited time to cover the most relevant topics.
Both the 200HR and 300HR YTT have extensive philosophy studies. ULU Yoga wishes that you may learn to apply them to your daily life in practical ways, not just learning about obsolete metaphysical concepts from old books. The goal is to discover your true self and the deeper nature of reality through the sacred wisdom of ancient yogic philosophy.
Both the 200HR and 300HR YTT topics include the history and meaning of yoga, plus ancient texts of the vedas, yoga sutras and Bhagavad Gita. You will cover in depth the 8 limbs, yamas, niyamas, koshas, kleshas, nature of self/soul, nadis, chakras, consciousness, karma, gunas, doshas, ego, tantra, ayurveda and more. Naturally the 300HR goes more in depth into these topics, and requires more additional reading, journaling and interaction during lectures and group work.
*Yoga philosophy includes unfamiliar vocabulary and concepts which are very foreign and even contradictory to western perspectives on life, ego, reality and spirituality. This requires additional reading and multiple reviews to understand and internalize. Therefore, it is recommended that you complete all of the philosophy classes online, and save the onsite time for deeper discussion and analysis. The onsite training has but limited time to cover the most relevant topics.
Learn all the secrets, skills and mistakes to avoid in order to maintain a balance between honoring the sanctity of yoga with succeeding as a business professional. This journey begins with cultivating the inner strength to follow your heart and do what you love, finding your niche, and gaining popularity in order to thrive in this ever growing competitive market.
The 200HR YTT gives a detailed explanation of the various Yoga Alliance designations for teachers and schools, and getting registered. You learn tips about getting jobs, advertising your classes, creating relations with students and studios. Discover techniques for taking quality pics and videos, content creation and social media development.
The 300HR and Intermediate 200HR discuss designing workshops, retreats and teacher trainings. Learn about building a professional website and getting listed on booking platforms such as bookretreats and shopify. We talk about creating and managing teams for marketing, admin, instructors, and operational staff. You learn how to partner with resorts to rent shalas, book accommodations, and plan meals.
Each onsite YTT requires students to complete some hours of online studies. You can work at your own pace and complete them in 14 days or up to 2 years. It’s recommended that you complete these hours before the onsite course, but you can also do them after. The studies cover all subjects, such as regular guided practice, asana alignment and technique, philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology and more. You can follow the set order of the online course or skip around and choose what to focus on to best suit your personal needs. Yoga Alliance recommends that you give special attention to anatomy and philosophy as those are the more difficult topics which require additional reading and review.
Here are how many hours you must do onsite and online for each course:
14day 200hr YTT is 100h onsite / 100h or 50% online
21day 200hr YTT is 150h onsite / 50h or 25% online
14day 300hr YTT is 200h onsite / 200h or 67% online
21day 300hr YTT is 150h onsite / 150h or 50% online
42day 500hr YTT is 200h onsite / 200h or 40% online

"The most breathtaking and life-changing experience of my life! I started with the 50-Hr aerial teacher training, but soon the wonderful people of this yoga teacher training program healed my soul and I couldn’t believe it but the magic was operating. I had to extend my plans in order to enroll and complete the full 200-Hr TTC, and that was the best decision! Thank you endlessly for creating this opportunity for us! ULU Yoga isn’t only gonna give you the ability to become a multi style yoga teacher but they hand you the key to love in abundance! They’ve changed me and the way I perceive life and its surroundings! No money in the world can pay off what ULU Yoga and they’re wonderful teachers have given to me!"
"Highly recommended! Nothing but good things to say about this whole experience. I booked the ULU Yoga TTC and 5 stars all the way!! I will also probably enroll in the 100hr Online Ashtanga course for next month. :)"
Best decision I ever made. I chose to do my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Ulu Yoga because of the variety of styles they offer. Learning aerial & acro (alongside Hatha, vinyasa and yin) was so much fun! Aerial is my absolute favorite, I even ended up adding on my 50 hour Aerial Training with Ulu! I gained all the confidence and skills needed to successfully teach classes! I learned from knowledgeable teachers & I made friends with people from all over the world! I highly recommend Ulu!
I had the best experience with Ulu! The setting was on an island in Thailand- the resort was right next to the beach, and the weather was beautiful!!! There was a breakfast buffet everyday, which was amazing. And the beach (Haad Yao) was so picturesque. There were several instructors, and they were all amazing and knowledgeable! I loved how they put an emphasis on safety and how the poses are for each person's body. The course was a lot more intense than I had anticipated- but you learn a lot, and you get a lot of teaching practice. I took the 200hr multi-style course, so I had the pleasure of experiencing SUP yoga (on a paddle-board), acroyoga, aerial yoga, yin, hatha, vinyasa, and even a taste of ashtanga.
I've just completed my 200 hours and had an absolutely amazing experience. The amount of care and support I received with my colleagues was beyond my expectations. Edward was extremely accommodating, taking care in such a productive way to make sure I had a safe and positive experience. He helped me find my footing in Koh Phangan and offered recommendations as well as an amazing introduction to aerial yoga. Shashi gave 110% of herself to every session even after an unfortunate injury (non-yoga related). She seamlessly stitched things together for us with additional workshops and opportunities to keep the focus on growth and development which was absolutely well done and inspiring.
"Omg... the most caring yoga instructors!!! Everything was positive. I love the teachers, they are very experienced and encouraging. I love the classroom we were assigned to. I learned a lot in a short period of time. It was a good balance between learning and fun. I love the food. Ulu yoga is so knowledgable, experiences, loving and creative!! I used to think that good reviews are lies, but now I am writing one. lol :)"
