Dive deeper into the form and function of asanas from various categories. Learn about their common foundation and how to build upon it in order to achieve correct alignment, advanced variations and modifications for different levels, styles, and needs.

Learn teaching skills, cueing, sequencing, corrections and adjustments. Practice teaching everyday and design original classes. Receive detailed feedback and become a confident instructor.

In-Person Study Schedule

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, this course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of yoga asanas, yoga philosophy, and anatomy and enrich your yoga practice and life experience. Every morning begins with a 2 hour guided practice, either traditional hatha yoga or a dynamic vinyasa flow, including pranayama and meditation. This course also includes aerial yoga, acro yoga, and SUP yoga classes. Classes are led by 500 HR-RYT instructors, who offer personalized feedback, hands-on adjustments, and modifications to suit different levels. As part of the 200 HR YTT, you will be introduced to more traditional studio classes to help build a strong foundation. 

This 200-hour yoga teacher training program covers the foundational poses and popular sequences of hatha, vinyasa, and ashtanga yoga. We designed our classes to teach you the correct form and function of each pose, its technique, and alignment, as well as its purpose and benefits. As well as learning how to engage muscles, link breath with flow, avoid injuries, and modify for beginners and advanced practitioners, you will also gain a clear understanding of holding space for others. Yoga poses can help open up energy channels, increase strength and flexibility, reorganize the nervous system, and detoxify the body’s internal organs. As this practice can lead to a life-changing transformation, students should be patient, practice safely, and work hard with dedication. 

A crucial aspect of teaching yoga is holding space for others. Consequently, we are committed to providing our students with adequate teaching practice. 

During ULU Yoga courses, students practice teaching skills with the guidance and feedback of their instructors as well as other students. This course covers teaching methodology, class design, and lesson planning through lectures and workshops. We are very proud of our high success rate and quality instructors who get jobs after completing our training.  

This 200HR YTT focuses on teaching standard hatha or vinyasa classes, which include pranayama, meditation, guided instruction, hands-on adjustments, and props. Alternatively, if you have some experience with yin, ashtanga, or aerial, you can focus on these styles as well. Initially, students are nervous, but after teaching their first class, their confidence grows exponentially each week. To become a professional yoga instructor, you just need to put your best foot forward and enjoy the journey.
During your 200HR training, you will have unique workshops to try new styles and experiences. These workshops are designed to help you discover what you love while gaining new skills and deepening your practice. The 200HR YTT course includes acro yoga, aerial yoga, yin yoga, and restorative yoga, plus SUP yoga and beach yoga classes. 

The acro yoga class raises energy and helps unite the group. As you balance your partner in the air, you gain a deeper understanding of muscle engagement, alignment, and bone stacking. Acro yoga aims to build new confidence and skills through fun, laughter, and challenging poses.

Aerial yoga is ULU Yoga’s specialty. You will practice with their cushioned AirSwing, which is more comfortable and easy to use than regular aerial hammocks. Aerial helps offer restorative spinal healing and pain relief, helps beginners achieve advanced poses, and enables experienced practitioners to reach new levels they never dreamed of.

Yin yoga and restorative yoga train you to hold passive poses for longer times while supporting the body with various props. This allows you to go deeper into the connective fascia tissues to release tension and stress. Enjoy deep relaxation after a long day of training and tap into the body’s natural power of healing to recover from trauma and injuries.

SUP yoga (stand-up paddle board) offers a new sense of balance as you float above the sea enjoying the gorgeous coastline. SUP yoga is an exhilarating experience that you will never forget, full of laughter, splashing around, and communing with nature.

Yoga on the beach is an opportunity to connect with the divine, give thanks for life, and take beautiful photographs.😉  Koh Phangan has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. On a clear day, you can see distant islands, inspiring limestone cliffs, and clear blue turquoise waters.

From arm-balances and inversion workshops to human-design reading workshops, your instructors are committed to providing you with experiences of all kinds. Other workshops we offer include chakra awakening, hands-on adjustments, working with injuries, and Ayurveda. To bring a variety of workshops, we love to experience different things, so the workshops may vary month to month depending on the needs, interests, and levels of students, as well as the availability of different instructors.

ULU Yoga’s experienced instructors will help you gain a deeper understanding of your own and your students’ bodies by teaching how the bodies’ systems, structures, and movements are interconnected. You will learn how to improve your alignment and technique, prevent injuries, as well as relieve pain, strain, and tension.
This course introduces basic anatomical terms, functions of the muscular-skeletal system, and body properties and characteristics. You will learn about the bones, muscles, joints, connective tissue, fascia, facial dumping, planes of motion, compression and tension, cell structure, and tensegrity.
*Anatomy is a very broad subject covering the entire human body. These lessons contain challenging technical vocabulary from medical, biological, and sports sciences. This requires additional reading and multiple reviews to understand and internalize. Therefore, it is recommended that you complete all of the anatomy classes online, and save the onsite time for deeper discussion and analysis. The onsite training has but limited time to cover the most relevant topics.
A crucial element of yoga that is often overlooked is yoga philosophy. Many of us were introduced to yoga through Yoga Asanas, but Yoga Philosophy is a fundamental aspect of yoga that helps us understand ourselves and the ever-evolving nature around us. The 200HR YTT has extensive philosophy studies. 
ULU Yoga encourages students to apply yoga studies to their daily lives, not just learn about outdated metaphysical concepts from old books. Using ancient yogic philosophy as a guide, you can discover your true self and the nature of reality on a deeper level.
 
Topics covered in the 200HR YTT include the history and meaning of yoga, the Vedas, the yoga sutras, and the Bhagavad Gita. You will learn about the 8 limbs, yamas, niyamas, koshas, kleshas, nature of the self/soul, nadis, chakras, consciousness, karma, gunas, doshas, ego, tantra, ayurveda, and more. 

*Yoga philosophy may include unfamiliar vocabulary and concepts that contradict Western perspectives on life, ego, reality, and spirituality. To understand and internalize this, you will need to read more and review it multiple times. It is therefore recommended that you complete all philosophy classes online, and save the onsite time for deeper discussion and analysis. There is only a limited amount of time available for onsite training to cover the most pertinent topics.

The 200HR YTT gives a detailed explanation of the various Yoga Alliance designations for teachers and schools, and getting registered. You learn tips about getting jobs, advertising your classes, and creating relations with students and studios. Discover techniques for taking quality pics and videos, content creation, and social media development.

This course has 100 hours of required online study. After you pay your deposit you will receive access to the complete online course. It’s good to do some online studies in advance to prepare. You can follow the classes in order or skip around and choose what content best serves your needs and interests.
 
You can also do your online studies after the onsite training. Simply watch the videos that were not covered onsite so you are not repeating the same content. However, for most classes the online and onsite instructors are different. It can be greatly beneficial to repeat some lessons to gain deeper insight.
 
The online course has more in depth philosophy and anatomy content, which require additional reading. Whereas the onsite course is naturally more physical, hands on and interactive. If you miss onsite classes you can do more online work as make up. Plus you have 2 years to finish.
During the onsite training, we recommend you to do 1-2 hours of daily self-study outside of class. These studies include:

Cancellation Policy

You must cancel 30 days in advance to receive a refund of your deposit. There is a $50 cancellation fee. After that, your deposit is non-refundable. You should pay your balance 14 days before the course starts. If you miss the course due to illness or flight cancellation you can reschedule the date, or get credit for an online course. Accommodation may or may not be refundable, depending on which resort you choose and how much notice you give. No refunds are issued after the course begins.

Training in Thailand

14 days 100 hours, take place in Koh Phangan, Thailand. This includes daily guided hatha / vinyasa practice, pranayama and meditation, teaching practice, special workshops for aerial, acro and SUP yoga, special events like ecstatic dance, sound healing and detoxifying sauna excursions. You will also review and go deeper into the online studies, analytics, anatomy and philosophy

Additional Studies - Training Online

Online Course

As a special bonus you will receive the complete course online, which is full approved by Yoga Alliance. This includes video modules covering all topics, physical practice, readings and quizzes and bonus live classes.

Self Study

During your onsite training you should spend 1-2 hours a day of self study, for a total of 50 hours. However, it is recommended that you complete these hours before the course starts. You can follow the preset study guide or choose from the online course what classes best suit your needs and interests.

Online Studies

As a special bonus you will receive the complete online course, which includes videos covering all topics. You should try to complete 100 hours online work before the onsite training, but you can continue after and take up to one year to finish. Also, if you miss some onsite classes you can do more online work as make-up. It is recommended you focus on the more difficult topics such as anatomy and philosophy, which require additional reading.

Live Online Classes

Optional. You can join live classes on Zoom, Monday - Friday. Times vary, but on average are 2 p.m. GMT +3. Here you can meet instructors and other students to get connected and ask any questions you may have. Attendance is not required.

Certificate

At the end of the onsite training you will receive a certificate stating the total number of hours you have completed onsite and online up to that point. When you have completed all requirements you will receive a certificate of full completion and become qualified to teach, primarily vinyasa yoga, all over the world. More training may be required to teach other styles (aerial, acro, yin yoga) proficiently. You will also become eligible to join Yoga Alliance as a RYT Registered Yoga Teacher.

Check in time varies from place to place. 12:00 is just the average time. Orientation is just a short meeting to connect with the coordinator and other students. Much of this info is already provided online. Some students miss orientation because they are still traveling or prefer to enjoy the beach. Dinner is dutch pay. If the weather is good we may go to the glorious Hi Life Bungalows or Haad Son Resort cliffside restaurant with amazing sunset views. Another fun option is Loccos Italian restaurant for delicious pizza and salad on the beach.

I had the best experience with Ulu! The setting was on an island in Thailand- the resort was right next to the beach, and the weather was beautiful!!! There was a breakfast buffet everyday, which was amazing. And the beach (Haad Yao) was so picturesque. There were several instructors, and they were all amazing and knowledgeable! I loved how they put an emphasis on safety and how the poses are for each person's body. The course was a lot more intense than I had anticipated- but you learn a lot, and you get a lot of teaching practice. I took the 200hr multi-style course, so I had the pleasure of experiencing SUP yoga (on a paddle-board), acroyoga, aerial yoga, yin, hatha, vinyasa, and even a taste of ashtanga.

For Travel Info ULU Yoga is happy to assist your travel arrangements. Please contact us to help reserving ferry, taxis, or whatever else you need. You can also visit the ‘ferry Samui’ website, which has very detailed info for travel and booking all over Thailand. Plan to fly into Bangkok early morning to streamline connecting flights and ferries to Koh Phangan all in one day.

From Bangkok, take a flight to Koh Samui Airport (1-hour, $100-150), then take a ferry to Koh Phangan (30-minute, 400 THB), then take a taxi to Bounty Resort (20-minute, 200-300 THB). A cheaper option is from Bangkok, take a flight to Surat Thani Airport (1-hour, $40- 60), then take a bus and ferry to Koh Phangan (4.5-hour, 470 THB), then take a taxi to Bounty Resort (20-minute, 200-300 THB).

ULU Yoga provides aerial swings, yoga mats, printed manuals and drinking water. You should also buy a SIM card at the airport or 7/11 for good data connection.  (Check with your local Thai embassy for updated travel and visa info regarding COVID-19.)

You must cancel 30 days in advance to receive a full refund of your deposit. Please pay your balance 14 days before the course starts. No refunds are issued after the course begins. If you miss the course due to illness or flight cancellation you can reschedule the date, or get credit for an online course. Refunding of accommodation varies according to the policy of each resort.
